Arthur Update – Partial Road Closure US Route 1

Reports are that Arthur is moving out of the area, as rain and wind will continue to diminish over the next couple hours. Bridgewater Fire Department is reporting that US Route 1 in Bridgewater is partially flooded in town, and advises drivers to remain cautious while proceeding through the area. Easton Incident

Aroostook EMA responded to what was reported to be a tank truck rollover with significant spill in Easton.  Upon arrival, we found that it was in fact a box truck and there was no significant spill of any materials.  We are still glad to have gotten the call early, we would rather to and not be needed than not go and be needed. Tornado Confirmed in Aroostook County

The National Weather Service Office in Caribou has confirmed that a very small F-O tornado did touch down in the Houlton area yesterday.  There will be more information posted later on their website and on WAGM tonight, but here is another link to the same information.

911 Texting Not Active Yet in Maine

Today, a number of mobile cell phone carriers turned on the ability to “text 911,” an ongoing initiative to bring text notification to emergency services.  This feature, however, is not currently active in Maine. 911 Call Centers across Maine have upgraded to the NextGen 911 system and do have this capability, but this feature is still being tested prior to being officially implemented.
