All of Maine now in Drought Monitor Categories
Rainfall is developing from southwest to northeast this afternoon and will be widespread tonight. Rain may be heavy at times especially from the Downeast Coast to the Central Highlands including Bangor region. Cannot rule out a couple lightning strikes within heavy bands of precipitation. Rain will taper to showers tomorrow morning with improving and drying conditions (just a few showers). Drier weather returns for the weekend into next week.
Drought Monitor Updated this morning. Extreme Drought now includes portions of Hancock and Washington Counties. Large area of Severe Drought remains in the Downeast, Central Highlands, Bangor Region north to Southern Piscataquis County. Moderate Drought expanded into Southern Aroostook County and continues in the Moosehead Region. Abnormally Dry Conditions expanded to include the rest of Northern Maine. ALL of Maine now within a Drought Monitor category.
