This week at the Aroostook County EMA we are teaching local First Responders ICS 300 & 400. Today is the start of ICS 300. This course is designed for personnel requiring advanced knowledge of the Incident Command System, specifically for supervisors managing complex or expanding, multi-agency incidents.
It builds on the ICS platform, designed and implemented by FEMA, covering Incident Action Planning, Unified Command, Resource Management and Transfer of Command.
– What is Unified Command, it is the ability to organize personnel and resources for incidents involving multiple agencies.
– What is a Incident Action Plan (IAP) It is the development and creation of plans for operational periods during a incident.
– What is Resource Management, it is the ordering, tracking, and mobilizing local resources for an incident.
– and what is Transfer of Command, it is the ability to safely transition leadership duties during an incident.
All of these learning outcomes help participants learn to use management skills for large incidents, create IAPs for simulations and real life scenarios and understand how NIMS Command and Coordination supports Incident Management.
Every aspect of this class further expands the knowledge of our First Responders in Aroostook County.
