Flood Potential

We have been participating in flood preparedness meetings in Aroostook.  Today, we participated in the third statewide Riverflow Advisory Commission conference call.  The ice conditions in Aroostook are reported mostly unchanged.  We still have a large amount of snow covered solid ice on our rivers that we will have to continue to monitor.

2014 Tate and Lyle Full Scale Exercise, Houlton Maine

  Aroostook EMA (AKEMA) has completed a full-scale exercise on September 27th, 2014. The exercise was held at the Tate and Lyle facility on Morningstar Road in Houlton. Fort Fairfield Dam Exercise

Aroostook EMA participated with Maine Emergency Management and the Town of Fort Fairfield with a recent dam tour and tabletop exercise.  These exercises allow all entities to plan responses and procedures in the event of a dam failure.  It’s always a pleasure working with these local communities in preparedness exercises and learning about the history of many of these Aroostook County landmarks.  

Community Emergency Response Team Training

There will be a one day Basic Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training on September 13th at the Caribou Courthouse.  Primary objective is to provide essential training for our Amateur Radio Team and our Animal Response Team.  Training will start at 8:30 a.m. Please contact the Aroostook EMA if you plan to attend.
