Cybersecurity Awareness Month takes place every October (running October 1 to 31, 2026) to promote online safety and cyber hygiene.

Here are some ads we did with WAGM TV 8 for Cybersecurity.

Official 2026 Themes

• CISA Theme: “Securing the Next 250” (focusing on critical infrastructure resilience, the 3Rs—Reduce, Replace, Recover—and preparing for evolving tech and nation-state threats).

• National Cybersecurity Alliance (NCA) Theme: “Don’t Make It Easy for Them”.

Four Core Cyber Safety Steps

Both the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and the National Cybersecurity Alliance emphasize four everyday habits:

• Use strong passwords and manage them with a dedicated password manager.

• Turn on multifactor authentication (MFA) for your accounts.

• Recognize and report phishing scams and suspicious messages.

• Update software and devices regularly to patch vulnerabilities.

Additional Recommendations for Organizations

• System Logging: Keep active logs on systems to detect and trace unauthorized activity.

• Data Protection: Back up critical data regularly and encrypt sensitive information.

• Incident Response: Establish, test, and maintain a clear incident response plan.

• Domain & Reporting: Move to a .gov domain if eligible and report cyber incidents directly to CISA.
